Times They are a-Changin

Standard

I was told as a younger man that to live a successful life, you must embrace change. That piece of advice has always served me well – and today, I take to the page here to share a hugely exciting personal change for me.

On my birthday (of all days), I formally accepted an offer from New York City’s ZocDoc. If you haven’t heard of this company, they’ve been tearing up the press the last couple of years – click this link to see what I’m talking about.

The concept is to connect patients to doctors. Similar to OpenTable, but for doctors – you can go online or use their mobile app to put in your insurance, ZIP code and ailment; and go ahead and schedule a visit with a doctor that accepts your coverage without ever having to pick up the phone and talk to anyone.

Austin became their fastest-growing territory ever after opening a couple of months ago, and I’ve been invited to take part in the effort to bring on more and more doctors into our network.

While I’m ecstatic to be a part of something so transformative, my exit is bittersweet. I have enjoyed very much being a part of the mobile revolution that is taking place at 44Doors. Working with such a dynamic team has augmented my skill sets in ways for which I will be forever grateful. I cannot thank Andy Meadows and Tim Hayden enough for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the evolution of Mobile technology at a time when it is really coming of age.

Next week, I’ll be heading up to New York for two weeks for training. If you’re going to be in the City, drop me a line and I’ll let you buy me a beer :). In the spirit of change – I give you one of my favorite covers of one of my favorite songs. Enjoy!
